Setting up Efan's Fund
Great Manchester Run 2012
In 2011 Bleddyn and his friend Ems ran the Great Manchester Run, they raised £5,500! Some of the money was donated to RMCH and some to Dewi Ward Ysbyty Gwynedd to but a new oxygen saturation monitor. They decided to run the race as a way of thanking Manchester and Bangor hospitals for the care Efan had and was receiving there.
During the Summer of 2012 Owain, Efan’s cousin and Gutun, his friend decided to run the Cardiff half marathon and opened the ‘Cronfa Efan’ account (Efan’s Fund).
People heard about the fund and were extremely generous by raising money, the purpose of the account was to raise funds for equipment for Efan.
Later in 2012 Efan’s health deteriorated and he was moved to PICU in Manchester. Bethan lived in Manchester with Efan for months and Bleddyn and Elan would visit on weekends. People heard about the decline in Efan’s health and schools, Sunday Schools, offices, football clubs and people from close and afar donated money towards Cronfa Efan.
