 JUMP Children's charity

A few days before Efan died Bleddyn, Bethan, Elan and Efan were photographed in PICU by JUMP childrens charity,

JUMP is a charity that take photos and create albums of children with life-limiting conditions with their families. The family received a memory book full of priceless photographs, which they can now treasure forever.

JUMP means a lot to the Evans family! the family have donated £700 to JUMP.

 RonaldMcDonaldHouse

Another charity that is close to this family’s hearts! Bleddyn, Bethan and Elan stayed in RonaldMcdonaldHouse in an

en-suite room from August to December 2012. The house has kitchens, day rooms a garden and clothes washing facilities, but most importantly offers a haven to escape PICU and the worries for a while. Elan was allowed to stay which offered her some sort of stability and normality to her life too! A room per night for a family costs £25, the Evans family have so far donated £5,000 and have sponsored their room in Efan’s memory, they also bought a water feature to put in the garden.

chILD Lung Foundation

When Efan was diagnosed with SPD-C, no local medical staff had heard of the condition. The family had to look for information on the internet. There was little information about SPD-C, but when Efan fell poorly and was in PICU in 2012 a family friend came accross the chILD Lung foundation website and facebook.

This website provided the family with a network of family support from other Mums and Dads with children with SPD-C  and other Interstitial lung diseases. At last, the Evans family felt that Efan's symptoms and ailments were 'normal' for a child with SPD-C.

The chILD lung foundation provide valuable support and information from experts- other Mums and Dads! Hardly any money is spent on research/ cures into childhood I.L.D's but the chILD lung foundation charity provides essential support to families. Efan's charity Fund donated £4,500 to the chILD lung Foundation.

Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

RMCH

Paediatric Intensive Care Unit- PICU

PICU Ward is part of the Critical Care charity, it is the largest PICU ward in the country and has 21 ICU beds. A bed in PICU can cost £1,000+ per day as there is a 1 or 2 nurse ratio per child. The cost of drugs, treatments and staffing is tremendous, there are whole teams of physios, O.T’s, dieticians, play specialists, ventilator engineers and of course all the specialist Doctors working within the unit. Efan and his parents spent months on the PICU ward and saw first hand what the cost of the care was. They donated £4,500 to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and £2,000 to the PICU ward, their money was put towards buying a portable scanner situated in PICU.
